The “Doomsday/Bad Shit is about to happen” Archetype shows up yet…

The “Doomsday/Bad Shit is about to happen” Archetype shows up yet again, except this time instead of the Vengeful God, we have A Shadowy, Evil, Dictator type Politician and or political faction or party. It’s kind of a rational modernization of a universal religious archetype…in a way it’s kind of the prophesied Anti-Christ.
ha ha…but seriously, hear me out:
What is a religion other than a set of principles and worldview that basically form a kind of collective culture and lifestyle?

What is a given Political Ideology other than a set of principles and worldview that basically form a kind of collective culture and lifestyle?
Crazy Stuff, I know…
Past Spread of Christianity+Forced Conversions to the Christian lifestyle = Recent Past/ Current Spread of Democracy/Capitalism+Forced Conversion to THAT lifestyle.

Basically what I’m saying is that I hope Dick Dawkins didn’t spend all the money that insecure Atheists threw at him because the age of TRADITIONAL “religious” crusading and warfare in the West is over. The “West,” which initially kicked off the bloody conversion madness of Christianity has now made it’s way full circle back to the Middle East with a Modern Atheistic Worldview to impose on them this time.
So, it seems, Political Ideology has assumed Top Dog status in terms of defining the culture of Most of the “developed” world. Religion is for the most part, in the backseat, regardless of how loud it may yell from there. Essentially, Rational Man has usurped God and you know what?….nothing’s changed. There are still forced conversions, still bloody wars…now in the name of Godless(atheistic) political ideologies. (that is of course unless you want to consider the almighty dollar the God of capitalism…but i wont).
So what does the future hold?…more of the same and Dick Dawkins pulling his foot out of his mouth.

A valid criticism of evolution doesn’t involve ID

A valid criticism of evolution doesn’t involve ID. ID is basically saying, screw the mountains of research, data, and fossil record everything was magically poofed into existence by the Christian God. If a Muslim, Hindi, etc. started demanding that they discuss their religion’s version of creation the people who push these laws forward would start screaming bloody murder.

A valid criticism of evolution(which isn’t a criticism, but more of a debate within the theory of evolution) would actually be something like this, “Well we aren’t sure exactly if it is natural selection or mutation that pushes evolution forward, let’s look at the two theories and you can make your own informed opinion based on this data.”

Subject: Re: FloJo and DiVa file IDs

Ray,

I had this discussion with BD a while ago. This is something that
blindsided me. We actually have an SOP that we follow for tube IDs
such that they are all unique. Basically, we use accession numbers of
the format FCM00001 for experiment names and then the tube IDs would
be FCM00001_001, etc. In the older versions of Diva, this was the
“FCS” file name that showed up in the folder when experiments were
exported. However, those weren’t “real” FCS files. Evidently, people
were trying to import these bogus FCS files back into Diva, or
elsewhere, and it was creating errors. In their infinite wisdom, BD’s
fix was to change the names of these files to something unrecognizable
to the users so that they wouldn’t be tempted to do that. They have a
system of generating their own pseudo-unique IDs in this manner. I
say pseudo-unique, because it isn’t clear to me where/how the
numbering starts if, for instance, you have several instruments
running Diva in the same lab, or if upgrade to a new version by doing
a clean install. Or perhaps the machine crashes. Can the numbering
be set to pick up where if left off? I think what they really mean is
unique to that particular incarnation of the database on that local
machine which isn’t unique enough in my mind. This really screwed up
my system. So asked the same question you just did, “Is there a way
to retain my Tube IDs and/or can I configure Diva to use the same
unique filenaming convention that I do”. Of course, the answer was
no. Even worse, even if you export as FCS files, although
recognizable, the files aren’t exactly the same as the entered ID.
The specimen name and an underscore are added before the tube ID and
“.fcs” is added to the end. This is more aggravation for me to deal
with in regard to data management in a GLP setting. It’s too bad. We
like exporting entire experiments for archiving purposes, but it is
easier to reconcile file name/tube ID discrepancies when exported as
FCS, so we will probably have to make a change. At present we’ve just
been adding a file note to the archive documents and explaining that
the original naming scheme will reappear when imported back into
Diva. This isn’t entirely true when FCS files are imported into Diva
since you have to import them into an open experiment, which could be
named differently than the exported FCS files. Again this is an issue
for me in a GLP validated instrument setting and would warrant more
workarounds or further explanation as to why reimported raw data
doesn’t look “exactly” as it did when collected.

Let me know if you here anything different from what I’ve told you as
the situation seems to change frequently and this may no be the most
current info.

Regards,

Dave

Subject FloJo and DiVa file IDs

Can someone tell us how to export DiVa files as ‘Experiments’, not as
‘FCS files’, so that the individual tubes within the ‘Experiment’
retain
their specific identities, e.g., ‘T4/8′, rather than some numerical
value, e.g., ‘2437′. When we export DiVa data as ‘FCS files’, the
specific tube ID is retained.

We have a FloJo 7.1 USB dongle and it’s being used primarily on PCs.

Thanks.

Wow, calling out hypocrisy just doesn’t go well with anybody

Wow, calling out hypocrisy just doesn’t go well with anybody.

When the opposition says irrational and emotionally charged things, it’s an outrage. But when they do something silly and you get a chance to sling mud, it exposes their true nature.

Let’s take stock of the facts: A bank didn’t pay a bill. The bill went overdue. Upon finding out about it, Cindy McCain had the bank pay the bill.

Let’s take stock of another set of facts: Barack Obama is christian. His father was at one point Muslim. His middle name is Hussein.

Neither set of facts has any bearing on either candidate’s true character.

Liberals taking delight in an unpaid tax bill that is clearly a clerical error is just as bad as Conservatives taking delight at Obama’s middle name. It’s all bullshit, and you should be ashamed at yourself for taking delight in it.

But then again, i’ve never expected much out of partisans of any color.

I’d contend the idea it’s “no crazier” than Christianity on the basis that there may in fact have been a historical Jesus in which stories could have been based. Speculating an entire cosmology in which several modern ideas are alien thought implants meant to control us because Earth is a prison planet has absolutely no grounding in reality to begin with. Never-the-less, I really don’t care what they believe as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone.

And therein lies the problem. The Church of Scientology hurts people. I am by no means an apologist for Catholics, and I am an atheist myself. However, the Pope recently apologized for all who were hurt and abused by the seemingly rampant peodphilia within the Catholic Church. These people were acting AGAINST their religion’s dogma in commiting these abuses.

In the Church of Scientology however, it it official policy that Church critics (or suppressive persons) have no human rights and may be “sued, tricked, lied to or destroyed”. Look up “fair game”. I urge you as a fellow free-thinking individual to do your research on this topic.

The Church of Scientology’s medical negligence, and human rights absues against both their critics and parishioners are well documented and outright disgusting. There is a lot of information out there, and I think the home page of Enturbulation.org contains many valuable links.

Critical thinking demolishes ID

Critical thinking demolishes ID. They aren’t going for critical thinking, they’re going for blind belief. ID claims that the mountains of evidence, which goes far beyond just biological evolution, are completely false without a single shred of evidence to prove it is false. If you deny evolution is real, then you have to deny that geology isn’t real, because the fossil record has been a big part in proving the theory of evolution, along with several other major fields of science.

Critical thinking is when you look at the evidence and go, well, ok, this makes sense, but there’s a hole in the theory here, why is that, what process is able to explain that hole in the theory. Then when a process is shown to fill that hole in the theory, the theory is updated, creating a better theory. There are no leaps of logic in science, it’s all based on verifiable proof and allows for the theory to be changed when new evidence shows that the old theory isn’t complete.

Dude, Sony doesn’t and shouldn’t care how much money they are losing at the current time. This system is going to be around for at least 10 years! don’t you think that will give them more than enough time to make up the difference and more? I think so. Afterall, Sony themselves are rolling out a ton of games per first party. All that money goes to them.
Lets also keep in mind that they intend to build an environment around the playstation network, expanding from one room to the other until some people’s houses would be totally immersed with their PS3(this is for the hardcore fanboys of course).

Lets not forget the playstation store! thousands of transactions a day and that keeps increasing with more consumers buying their product.

Listen fucker

Listen fucker…Someone who has dugg 8000 stories in less than a year cannot even talk to me.
8000 really…you digg every fucking thing put in front of you. Assholes like YOU are the problem with digg.
I’ll bet you digg tons of shit you don’t even read.

As for LewP Where is the lie…12″ vs. 5″ is the difference between a submission crazy stunt and a submission about a Darwin award winner. But like you said with your 15000 dugg stories…you just click the button…you didn’t actually bother watching it.

And “blackrage” is a reference to a classic Kevin Smith movie…But guys like you don’t get the joke, CAUSE YOU WERE NEVER MEANT TOO!!!

New York City does not actually ban handgun ownership

New York City does not actually ban handgun ownership. What it bans is CARRYING a handgun, or possessing an unlicensed handgun. If you apply for a hangun permit, and are not a felon or mentally ill, you can own a handgun. NYC on the other hand, bans RIFLE or SHOTGUN ownership, and that state of affair I find objectionable.

I agree completely with the rest of your sentiments. The population density means there will be a larger number of idiots in the area, and the last thing I’d want to see is lawfully licensed to carry handgun citizens getting into a “defensive” shootout in the subway. I personally don’t even feel the need to own a handgun for home defense. There are so many cops crawling around NYC, I don’t feel particularly threatened by armed burglars, or handgun carrying criminals. And carrying a handgun on the street is not going to “protect” me from some punk’s bullets unless I can kill him first. That’s what ballistic cloth is for. And no, any shithead stupid enough to go firing a gun without a calculated reason in public is unlikely to be deterred by the fact that there are other people around them who do.

I don’t even have a compelling urge to own a handgun for home defense. This damn city has no-knock warrants. I’d probably more likely get killed by retarded cops busting through my door after checking that the residence has a handgun owner, than an armed burglar or whacko.
