#1 - no, Linux is more secure because it was designed with security in mind, instead of an after thought
#2 - Yeah, Double clicking a package manager icon and then clicking a checkbox next to every program you want is really really hard…. Ohhh and I really hate that every program on the entire computer automatically updates using the package manager as well. I prefer downloading software patches from individual vendors for every program I install, I don’t know about you.
#3 - As far as OS’s go, Linux is about as easy as it gets. If you are too afraid to install any OS, then maybe Linux isn’t right for you…. and Windows/Mac for that matter too.
#4 - Compiz doesn’t try to look like their competitors. There is nothing at all like Compiz on any other platform… period. Your Windows & Mac overlords simply don’t allow enough control over the desktop environment to do even 10% of what Compiz does.
#5 - Gaming is one of the fastest developing areas of Linux right now. Both Linux native and running Windows games.
#6 - Dell, Lenovo, and many other companies offer Linux pre-installed. In addition to being the default OS for most UMPC machines, where Windows is busy trying to catch-up by extending XP support for that segment - futile since the Windows tax is still so expensive.
#7 - When is the last time you called MS for support? After they charge your credit card did your problem even get fixed? Support contracts with Linux vendors make things simple, but Linux forums are also excellent compared to the morons you find in the blind leading the blind Windows/Mac forums.
It used to be that a neighbor with a geeky kid could help you out… but now the geeky neighbor kid is using Linux too, so I don’t know what you Windows/Mac users are going to do soon.
#8 - Linux hardware support is pretty excellent today, with wifi being probably the biggest sore spot, even though it still works for 90+% of computers with no extra help. This is starting to become a ridiculous and tired argument.
