1) Why would hardware and software companies support a niche market when they are working overtime to supply products to the 95% market of Windows users?
2) Why would the average person want an OS that was 95% as usable as the OS they already use and already supports their hardware and software?
Linux has to be significantly better than Windows in every way to take any significant market share. People will only change for something better. A free OS with no official support, that doesn’t support all hardware and software available just won’t cut it.
