Ahmadinejad was elected on a hawkish platform
Ahmadinejad was elected on a hawkish platform. Khatami, Iran’s first reformist president, offered the US a truce, including recognition of Israel and suspension of nuclear activity. the response from the Bush administration was to ignore it and call Iran part of the “axis of evil”. the Iranians responded by abondoning reform and electing Ahmadinejad. much like Bush, his sole platform was confrontation and his economic policies hurt the country. both countries will be better off without people like Ahmadinejad and Bush.
