An interesting side of the story is that Obama spent so much more than McCain that his cash on hand is down to $69 million from $72 million at the end of June, yet his numbers are down from that time and McCain has pulled even. McCain’s cash on hand is down a greater amount, to $21 million from $27 million, but he will be getting $84 million from the government’s public financing system that Obama opted out of.
