“And you don’t have an HDTV? It’s a necessity for this generation of consoles.”
Really?
All your old SD games look like shit on it. 75% of the games on 360 and PS3 are 720p (which look like shit on a 1080p TV) and if the game is 1080p, you’re missing out if you only have a 720p TV (which is most likely 768p if it’s an LCD, and your games are still being upscaled/stretched on it).
1080p Blu-Rays look great on a 1080p HDTV. On a 720p TV, it doesn’t make much of a difference, not for the price. But no movies seem to be 16×9 exactly, they’re always wider than that (black bars on a widescreen TV means a razor thin image).
Really, this current state of multiple resolutions and no standards is making the process of buying and watching TV a miserable experience. I hate that no matter what I’m watching (DVDs, cable TV, or video games), more than half of them look blurry/fuzzy/shitty because it doesn’t exactly match the resolution and ratio.
It was so much easier with SDTVs and older video games systems.
