Any Empire based on military domination is immoral, but to me what is noteworthy is that the new American Empire in no way benefits average Americans.
Instead of a source of revenue to run the state apparatus, our empire is a drain on our resources. The Roman Empire kept the Romans happy by using the Empire to squeeze money out of foreigners for the beneifit of Romans. Same story with the British Empire.
But now we have this empire that is paid for by US taxpayers and by debt and inflation. It does not improve security or economic opportunities for the average guy. It only benefits a tiny fraction of Americans that produce arms, are government functionaries, or bankers. And incredibly in a society with more free access to information than ever before in the history of the world, the average guy approves of his daily raping and thinks that anyone opposed to our empire is a traitor.
