Apparently I’m the only one on digg who has even been a stuntman (male cheerleader, I don’t care what you want to call it). Cheerleading is incredibly dangerous. Unless you’re on a competition team and are able to work on a spring floor, then the girls are doing gymnastics and other stunts on a hard wood floor. Also, there’s a real lack of qualified coaches out there. Just look up basket tosses and think of all that can go wrong when your throwing a girl 10 feet in the air during which she’s doing a back flip (This is a very common stunt). That’s a lot of force that has to be dissipated in the right way.
