As an American, I wish my government could respond to situations more like the Aussie’s. Both governments are quite similar, except in (at least) one important factor: when the Aussie’s mess up, they admit it and move to rectify the situation. For some reason my leaders feel the need to defend error to the death (political or physical death, depending on the situation), which only leads us to further mistakes and the creation of unnecessary victims. Hopefully, one day, we can convince our leaders to “man up” or we’ll replace them with those who can.
