Hand a book to your 2 year old and see where it gets ya. Not that television is the way to teach children, but visualization along with fact in programs made by Discovery, etc… tend to hold attention a bit longer, especially those with learning disabilities such as ADHD or various reading issues.

I grew up having issues throughout school, where words seemed to be jumbled and I would skip or go back when reading. I found myself trying harder to take in what I was reading, rather than learning anything at all. This happens with quite a large percentage of children throughout the world.
