As the IT Director for a fairly large architecture firm, we start all of our projects within sketchup for quick modeling and mockup. It makes it really easy to show a client our vision and basic dimensions of the building, and using the terrain import feature of Google Earth pro, it makes for a decently accurate layout on the client’s property. After that, we export the simple model to either AutoCAD, Revit, or Archicad and do the ‘real’ work there. But for the front end of the design process, we’ve found nothing better and more simple than sketchup pro.
