yeah, you are so right. every time i boot one of my customised kernels (real time etc) i have to recompile every app i am about to use, because the kernel tells me it doesn’t like the fact that open office wasn’t compiled with the real time option enabed in the kernel…..

Download this: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/flashplaye …
Extract to here:
“Since the file needs to end up in the ~/.mozilla/plugins directory”
Close are reopen FireFox. Enjoy.
I must say, it’s really nice. The flashplugin-nonfree that I was using with Kubuntu was slow to load and sometimes wouldn’t load at all. This is much faster to load and so far has been able […]

Man is an ass for saying that an alpha programs will crash windows completely. Geez will you people stop hating on Windows, that may have been true 8 years ago (8 YEARS), but I’ve had Fedora hard crash on me that long ago. I use Vista for my day to day use and I love […]

yet again…
I
AM
NOT
ADVOCATING
GREATER
CONTROL
Look I appreciate there being open and civilized conversation with me on this. It’s a breath of fresh air compared to the norm here on digg. But I pointed out in my very first post that greater control was infeasible. I only continued with it in my second post as a […]

“Linux users have been begging for 64-bit Flash Player for months.”
You’re not kidding. I think Adobe did it for Linux first because we just wouldn’t shut the fuck up about it. I feel bad for Mike Melanson, who maintains the Adobe Flash blog for Linux.
When Flash 10 came out, and supported V4L2, wmode, […]

@ScottyMcBaggs
I said nothing of Ubuntu and using sudo, btw. That is completely different than roles and ACLs. Roles can be assigned as needed, there does not have to be an all powerful Admin role–setting one up would defeat the point of using roles.
If you’re having that much trouble with using sudo all the time, just […]

Defacing web-pages often has little to do with Linux or the web server. I think typically it is due to sloppy/ignorant development or admin practices that lead to sql injection and the like. In most these cases, the integrity of the rest of the system remains in tact and the only thing impacted is the […]

If you really want to understand where a lot of the HATE comes from, read the Halloween documents: It is a compilation of documents, albeit stolen, from Microsoft executives discussing the impact and threat of Linux dating back as far as 1997. It establishes that, in their eyes, FOSS is a vastly superior development model […]

About that, how easy is it, in your experience, to keep ahead of updates, and how arduous is that process? Once it is jailbroken is it free forever, or do I need to re-liberate it every time there is a software/firmware update from Apple? I am willing (hell, sometimes eager) to work with hacked equipment […]
