Chico, the most private of private hospitals are ALL required to abide by governmental regulations. This is what causes so many of them to go out of business when they are overwhelmed by border-jumpers and lazy bums. They just don’t have the $$$ to do what the bureaucrats tell them to do! And that is to treat absolutely every single person who walks through that door demanding service, regardless of ability to pay. The Hill-Burton Act is nowhere near useful here, since there aren’t enough taxpayer dollars available to support the system that coddles the illegals, the willfully indigent, and the just-plain-lazy folks who take advantage of legislation that was designed to help American citizens who are truly in need and have no other options.
