For numerous obvious reasons, like:
Cost. They are very expensive.
ROI. They pay for themselves after 15-30 years, but how many people are sure they will live in the same house for that long? And if you sell early, how much of the investment do you get back?
Help. Some towns and states help citizens buy panels, some don’t. One would think solar panels would be a smart idea in South Texas… You would be wrong, at least if you are an individual. Businesses get help, though, of course.
Net metering. Some places pay you for the extra energy you generate and put on the grid, some just apply it towards your bill and keep any extra if you generate more than you use, some keep all of it for free.
There there are other unknowns, like how many people even heard of this plan. Maybe they are all from one blog.
