“Fucking lefties! Goddamned righttards!”

This, my friends — THIS is why no matter what we do to try and change our nation for the better, things will only stay the same. We are a nation divided — not by borders — not by fences or boundaries (of the traditional sense) but divided into the extreme left, who hates the extreme right — and vice versa. Rather than attempting to find common ground — our political system merely bashes the other side of the fence, and things get progressively worse.

Abraham Lincoln once said: “A house divided cannot stand” — that has never been truer than it is today.

We, as a nation, have lost our sense of unity. We have become, like the Sunni and Shiia - separated by differences in the means to achieve a common goal. Look at almost any pro-republican article, any pro-democrat — hell, look at digg! You will almost always find the right attacking the left (vice versa) — republicans attacking democrats — liberals attacking conservatives. Look at the polls over the last twenty years, over the presidential candidates, and you will see a rising trend of public opinion being separated straight down the middle.

We… are a house, divided — and, as Lincoln stated in his speech — we are beginning to fall.
