How many recent FF games have you guys played? FF games generally have a LOT of in-game movies and 4-5 pre-rendered. Look at games like FFX, that was a pretty amazing looking game at the time, great game length and had pre-rendered movies. All fit inside a 4.7GB disc. I dare say the PS3 version of FFXIII will be no larger than 11gb, the current norm for games.

Eventually, games WILL use that 25GB of space Blu-Ray offers, much like many games used the 4.7GB DVD offered by the end of the PS2’s life span. We’re not yet at this stage, which is why ports onto the 360 are so viable. Everyone goes on about how many discs the 360 port of something will take, but they know dick about what they speak. FFXIII will come in on 1 DVD9 disc. I promise you that.

And for clarification, FFX used 4.3GB at it’s International release, which was the standard release in Europe. American and Japanese (standard) versions of the game used 3.9GB. The sequel to the game, FFX-2 which looked significantly better in terms of visuals and had more lashings of pre-rendered video came in at 2.7GB. Kingdom Hearts, another Playstation 2 game from Square Enix came in at 2.8GB and was a fairly amazing looking game, fair few pre-rendered sequences. Kingdom Hearts II, a game once feared would use 2 discs or a dual-layer disc only came in at 3.8GB. (And you trust these people to predict future game sizes?)
