I am quite comfortable with not knowing exactly where and how life began. This is because I am not a geneticist and biologist or a scientist. That is the beauty of science, you’re allowed to not know the answer, and the way you find the answer is through the process of science.
The problem here is that you start off with the answer and decide the answer is right. Now you have to find evidence for your answer which IDers cannot. Intelligent design does not have a theory that can be tested and observed all there is, is your conclusion which cannot be backed up.
No one is asking you to shut your brain off, what they are asking you to do is understand that we have testable scientific theories about many many things, one of them being the evolution of life through natural selection, which is one part of science. Then we also have abiogeneis which is another part of science, to understand one you don’t need the other as they are separate. However you should never stop doing science even if you do have one theory they is always the next.
If we did not concentrate on specific theories our understanding would come to a halt as we would not spend enough time on each area. So to put it simply you start with evolution, work on it, right we know how that works, lets get started on how evolution started.
We know what happened in the first 3 minutes of our universe, now we are down I think to the first few seconds, however I don’t believe we can explain exactly how gravity came into existence yet. By your logic because I don’t know how gravity started it is not a fact that it is.
There are some pretty solid ideas about abiogeneis as shown in Carl Sagan’s cosmos(I thoroughly recommend it)and as we discover more we question more and therefore understand more.
As for seeded from another planet, maybe we were? But where did the beings who seed us start?
As for being created by an intelligent designer, maybe we were? But where did the intelligent designer start?
You sound like a proponent of ID can you answer the latter question without invoking a religious text or telling me that you know that it is too complicated for us mere mortals to understand, because if you do tell me that, I would like to know.
How do you know that the intelligent designer is too complicated for us to understand?
You can’t answer with “you just know” or “it told me” as its anecdotal.
