I disagree that stars are no longer bankable, there ‘was’ a time when people would go see Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, George Clooney, but they are no longer marketable for this generation. Now people are rushing to go see the next movie with Johnny Depp, Shia LaBeouf, Angelina Jolie, Seth Rogen etc.

I completely agree with your last statement though, good original movies are being made all the time, people need to realize that there are other movies to see outside of summer blockbusters.
