The Truth:
Indonesian citizenship is determined by blood right. Obama’s biological parents were American (Ann Dunham) and Kenyan (Barack Obama, Sr.). Lolo Soetoro was Obama’s stepfather, not a blood relative, therefore no Indonesian citizenship.
Your claim:
2. Barack Obama had the legal name Barry Soetoro
The Truth:
A name written in a school registry is not proof of a legal name change. Obama was 6 years old at the time — just because his stepfather decided to call him Soetoro does not mean his name was changed under the law. If simply going by a different name equals a legal name change, you must be signing your checks Ridgeliner7.

3. Barack Obama was a Muslim, despite his “fight the smears” claim that he never has been.
The Truth:
Identification as Muslim is passed down through lineage but does mean the parents or child are practicing Muslims. I’ll go into more detail on Obama’s history here because you are clearly trying use this Muslim argument to paint him with a “he’s one of them” brush. Read closely: Both Obama Sr. and Soetoro were Muslim in name only. Obama Sr. abandoned the religion before he moved to the US and met Dunham, and had little influence on his son even then as he left when Obama was only 2. Soetoro, like most Indonesians, was born Muslim — but was not religious. Similarly, many US citizens are baptized or christened at birth but do not grow up to practice Christianity; and a child born to a Jewish mother is considered by that faith to be Jewish, but that does not mean either are practicing Jews. The fact of the matter is, Obama would have never been born much less taken in as a stepchild if either Obama Sr. or Soetoro were devout Muslims — Obama’s mother was agnostic/atheistic, which would make her off limits to the truly devout.
