I use it to reach a network of people easily for broad questions that are not urgent. In my experience, if you have a high volume of communication, and have a low priority issue that you address in email, it gets completely forgotten. Twitter is great for these sorts of low-priority things.

So, for example, I had some questions around high-level demographic analysis that weren’t pressing and wouldn’t matter if they got missed, but information I still would rather have than not have. I didn’t have the specific language to go google, so that wasn’t an option, and I didn’t want to spend the research time anyway. I didn’t have anyone immediately on hand in the company to whom I could go to, because I was too busy to get dragged into some long discussion. So I tweet to tap a broad knowledge base, keep my own time commitment low, and get an answer (presumably) from someone who knows what they’re talking about (presumably).
