I’m actually surprised at how relevant these suggestions are. I was expecting something like

1. Use vim, 2. Use XXX plugin, 3. Outfit a beer sipping hat with Red Bull… etc.

#2 Leaving a place to start is a very cool suggestion that I think I’ve done a few times somewhat subconsciously. The weekend especially throws me off. I always leave Friday evening thinking I’ll remember where/what I was working on, but I never do. I should actually follow these rules. I think everyone reading this comment is pretty much already violating #1.

And for those who suggest pulling the one-nighter, unless you can finish a month-long project (i.e. 160+ hrs) in one night, I don’t think that’s quite a viable solution. I think this article is aimed more at the career programmer rather than the hobby hacker. Pulling late nights on the job can burn you out real fast.
