It makes me laugh just thinking about how events from the past would be politicized by one political branch or the other, for example the Sahara desert was a jungle 6000 years ago, if that was happening now everyone with a point to make and a point to move would be blaming everything and everyone else whilst completely ignoring the fact that 13,000 years ago it was a desert, bigger than today’s by all accounts.
Whilst I can believe that pumping out noxious fumes cannot be good for anyone they should not be stopped or taxed until a true alternative has been found, the Horse as a mode of transport was not replaced by the car until the car was truly capable of replacing it, governments didn’t feel the need to tax horse users massively to get them into cars, despite the mess and disease caused by horse emissions, it was known as the “summer diarrhea”. It seems that even then people were given to scare mongering as there is more than one report of politicians and “experts” claiming that cities would be 6ft deep in horse dung by the year 1910.
