It seems some athletes, even the greatest, just don’t know when to let go. Michael Jordan tarnished his image by continuing on with the Wizards, and now Favre is doing essentially the same thing by playing with the Jets because of the so-called “love of the game.” All he’s accomplished is alienating a city of fans that supported him for two decades, and defecating on what was once a Hall of Fame career.

The difference is that Favre hasn’t reached close to the status that Jordan did, so while it was a tarnish on Jordan, it’s a huge black mark for Favre.

I understand the “love of the game”, but there comes a point when an athlete just isn’t at the Pro level anymore, and he should go out in glory on top, not an outcast bumming around on half-talent.
