Reporters sometimes take sides — but a lot of time, they are just there to cover the fight. If one candidate throws a punch, they want to report the block or counterpunch.

Obama’s response then, is more likely to become the story, than the “Obama Nation” screed. That’s the point. The news cycle is just hungry for nonsense to fill the hours.

Heck, they’ve been reporting McCain’s ramblings as if they were news for weeks now. It’s got to filter down to the general public the huge difference between the two, especially when you have sharp, timely, and thoughtful rebuttals like this.
