It’s just a song for one, yeah its iconic and important but its not the end of the world or the end of HNIC if the song is done. Yes, I’d be sad, since I’ve watched HNIC every saturday since I was 6, so its coming onto 20 years of it! But if they chose a new song I can’t blame them, not with the maker of the song suing CBC for how the theme has been used. If they decide to stop the song because of that and that they feel the 500 dollar tag a use is to much, thats their call, they are a government funded station. Come 2014 HNIC may be dead, i CTV’s broadcasting abilities continue to grow they may end up purchasing the rights to broadcast Saturday NHL games featuring any combination of Canadian and American teams. After losing the 2010 and 2012 Olympics and TSN gaining more Canadian NHL games. CBC is slowly losing its ability to compete with the Big boys. Thats life though
