liberteebell, a roadmap has been laid out for getting out of Iraq, although that doesn’t get completed until 2011. Provided we don’t get involved in another similarly expensive war, that’s a $12 billion/month(!) expense we won’t have anymore.
And really, it would be amusing to see Obama taken to task for cutting military spending, if he weren’t right that it needs to be cut. There is no reason why 54% of our budget needs to be devoted to the military. Yeah…54%. Republitards like to parrot that 18% number, and all that really counts is homeland defense.
Look, if you go on Google, it’s difficult to cite sources talking about budget cuts, not ones from the 21st Century, at least, because “hey, we’re finally determined to save the country” doesn’t sell as well as “ZOMG THEY’RE SPENDING US INTO OBLIVION!!!”
Then again, I don’t see why I have to substantiate my claims when you guys don’t have to substantiate yours. I mean, I see people get all sorts of thumbs-up for unsubstantiated claims such as “There’s no gold in Fort Knox.” I mean…geez…are we back to that old claim that Johnson gave all the gold to Teh Jooz??? And I see the bury brigade has been busy. Thou shalt not question the “wisdom” of the Ron Paul worshipers! Say, look! I can make authoritative claims, too! FACT: There are aliens in the White House. Everyone knows this. There, you see? I’m sure I can find a YouTube video proving this. People have been warning for years of the upcoming alien invasion, and many of them have pointed out that the U.S. government has been covering up UFO investigations. They’re right about that part, so they must be right about all the rest!
Again…RP was right about the economy, but look…I’m sorry, but y’all’s particular brand of Libertarianism suffers from the same sort of idealism and blind ideology that socialism does, which is that it’s a perfect system, and that it’s impossible to question its brilliance because nobody’s had the nerve to try it yet. There’s a reason for that! I’m sorry that we all disagree on that, but I think most of us agree that SOMETHING must change. Therefore, I’m sorry I cannot participate in this blind Ron Paul worship, but I can’t, and I won’t just sit idly by while people attempt to get us to exchange our “debt slavery” for gold slavery, or “sound money” (read up on RP’s views on THAT for a scarily unworkable solution that people nonetheless commend) slavery.
