McC’s recent claim that he would rather hear the roar of “50,000 Harleys” than the cheering of 200,000 Berliners is eclipsed by the fact that 50K Hogleys would drown out 200K BMWs, fine machines as those motorcycles are. The O`Bammy camp was quick to point out that McC opposed legis that would have forced the US Gov’t to buy Amer-made motorcycles. THAT’s an equal-but-opposite argument? Sounds like a typical LIBERAL argument, a non-sequitur in this case. I agree w/Randy above: Allow the world mkt to foster competition and keep prices down. In any case, H-D is a relatively de-tuned, torquey, utilitarian m/c—esp’y desirable in situations where the machine is destined to carry an amt of equipment while being abused constantly—and would eventually win out over any other make. Ask any motor-policeman.
