@ Mr

@ Mr.Gone: As I was taught it (went to a Catholic high school), that’s exactly what the Church believes, actually. The Catholic Church fully supports evolution, they just see God as, I dunno, starting it and then defining the environment to guide what is fittest. Or something like that. I’m not a very good Catholic. As far as I am away, many other Christian sects also believe something similar.

@ kayala: Agreed. Occam’s Razor is one of the most important (if not the most important) maxims in science, and any addition of “God” is completely unnecessary to the scientific process and therefore NOT scientific. I’m not sure you can use that argument, however, to invalidate the belief in God as a non-scientific belief. Insofar as believers accept reality and do not hide from it behind their blind faith, it does no harm. A strong faith should be able to accept the real world while believing in something greater beyond this world. It’s not scientific (and absolutely should not be in public schoolrooms under any disguise), but there is some merit to it. It helps a lot of people find comfort and meaning in life, and that’s not easy to do.

People who blindly follow what they’re told to believe, even in the face of evidence contrariwise, scare the hell out of me, however.
