@MrJagil
It doesn’t even have to be a gun: a criminal could easily use a knife for stabbing or a brick in a pillowcase to smash someone’s skull. The point is that such a criminal aims to harm/kill someone else, breaking a principle trust between society members.
“Well, it seems to me that you are completely and utterly controlled by the fear of the worst case sceneario” My local area is also peaceful. I don’t own a gun, and if I forget to lock the door at night I don’t have problems falling asleep. How did you ever come to your conclusion? I can easily turn that around and say that it seems you think that guns are ticking time bombs, or that touching a gun mysteriously transforms people into psycho killers. If your area has a history of that then it’s no wonder you’re deathly afraid of them. Might I also recommend you ban metal knives in exchange for plastic ones, and force everyone to change their forks out for chopsticks….cause you never know what they’ll be used for in the wrong hands.
“Where i live, depending on the police is the best thing to do. I still believe that guns are wrong and should not be allowed.” That’s like saying everyone in the world should be forced to buy flood insurance because *I* live in a high-risk flood zone. You might be able to say that guns are not the best solution for *your* local area today, but you hardly have the right to apply such a blanket statement to other areas.
