@MScrip RE: " Do you really think USB and WIFI are popular because of Apple? "

I can’t say about WIFI, but USB ? Yes!

I was there when the Windows 95 roadshow touting all the wonderful features of Win 95 made particular emphasis on " Plug N Play ".

USB drivers within Win95 were broken FOR YEARS.

Microsoft put USB support on the back burner and kept releasing OSR patches that never really fixed all of the USB issues.

I don’t know if you remember this, but ALL of the USB devices at the time were being released to mimic the "look" of the current Apple iMac of the time (yep, that crappy "see through" plastic look).

The REASON all of those USB devices looked so much like an iMac was that Apple’s OS at the time worked seamlessly with ALL of those USB devices.

I still remember the hours of wasted effort trying to get a Windows 95 PC to recognise USB hardware without the BSOD popping up.

Even Win 98 had issues with USB.

Microsoft FINALLY got USB working correctly when they released Win 98 SE.

So YES, Apple pushed the adoption of USB far harder and with more success than Microsoft had…
