My point in all this is that to make a law that denies a person a certain occupation based on their religion is something people in other countries can freely do. I feel it’s stupid unwise, and in the end against my very beliefs.

In this case, I believe that its ok for a Doctor to tell a patient that he himself recommends against a certain procedure or medicine on his own moral grounds. At this point he should recommend another doctor who can provide the insight to perform this procedure.

My most basic disagreement is that for some people kicking religion out of everything is a dream come true, while others it is the very definition of hell. The main purpose of the rule of law in the United States is to allow these two individuals the ability to live, work, and play in the same society without it coming to blows.

Over the last 10 - 20 years both sides of this argument seem to have been ratcheting up the rhetoric without a consideration to the effect their vision of the future will create.

I want a society where the atheist is protected from the bible thumper and the true believer is protected from the raving humanist. SuperWinner in his statement has championed an idea that makes my country (USA) less of what it could be and more of what it shouldn’t be.
