No one said anything about what the future of transportation will be. :-)
The Big 3 are in trouble and bleeding cash *right now* and don’t have time to wait until the future of transportation comes. Are you suggesting we subsidize them at a loss until hybrids are the only cars on the road and then they’ll be in better shape?

I do believe hybrids will eventually be all the auto manufacturers make, but we are a while away from that. I can’t imagine they won’t hit us up for even more cash if we force them to make only certain types of cars.

Let them develop hybrids along with their other vehicles, just like the Japanese and German manufacturers. Is there perhaps a very good reason foreign manufacturers built something besides hybrids, including SUV’s, just like American manufacturers?

I guess I’m not sure what I was supposed to infer from your link. It still shows hybrids underselling regular cars. If the Big 3 only made hybrids, then they’d be in even worse shape.
