O god, you’re one of those fanboys who is so sad that they spell microsoft with a $. I’ve used Unix-based OSs professionally since I was 17, hobbyist since 12-13. At one point I was using Gentoo as my main machine on a Sun Blade 2000. I was not a fan of how the system configuration was laid out, or the fact that I had to compile everything from scratch. RHEL5 AFAIC is the pinnacle of Linux.
And if you’re wondering just how many lags I get from my ms machine.. well let’s see it’s a glorified dvd player that plays mostly my music collection through my receiver in the living room, and it doesn’t run like dogshit like when clueless users use their windows machines for more than a month. Also if I log in people can use it without being totally lost. It will be ditched as soon as the Mac Mini comes with hdmi or s-video.
