Phew!
I thought it was just because I’m a Brit that I didn’t know who Bill Hicks was (sorry Bill), but clearly, the man was The Man to those who appreciated him….which makes him kind of iconic, or perhaps even cult-ish.

So let me say this.
We all have an opinion as to which actor/actress might be best suited to ANY given character portrayal.
But as long as the studio-chosen actor/actress does justice to the character, presenting and celebrating the respect that the character deserves, particularly in such tragic circumstances, could we ask for more?

(Note that I agree with mchasari’s post…creating a “tear-jerker” as a celebration of a real person can never do them any justice….it would be like presenting Karen Carpenter [sorry, I’m an old-timer] as being an unavoidable victim, whilst her music was merely a side issue, something she dabbled in along the way)
