Porting to Linux would be a waste

Porting to Linux would be a waste. Graphics studios will still use Macs.

I don’t care what you say. Mac fanboy, PC fanboy or neutral. The fact is that the customization that Linux and Windows offers is the last thing a studio cares about. Graphics design is a industry where turn around time is everything, where having the latest tools is everything, where being able to get a new system and have it out of the box and running the apps you need in an hour is everything. When it comes to this, Apple delivers. When it comes to getting color accurate monitors, Apple delivers with the Cinema Displays. Studios don’t have the time or the money to play the Dell LCD lottery (Google it) and see if they end up with a good monitor. They know they’ll get a good monitor.

There is absolutely no time to mess around with Linux and wonder why their wireless card isn’t working or something like that. If you don’t get your projects done in time, you ass is sued. Apple might not have the most open system or the cheapest hardware in the world, but at least it does what it does well.
