This list shows the PS3’s biggest problem, the lack of library exclusives.
Multiplatform games aren’t a reason to own any one system but rather a reason to be a gamer. In almost all multiplatform cases the 360 outsells the PS3 versions so more and more developers are inclined to produce more exclusive DLC (GTA4) in exchange for a bigger share of the profits. Microsoft’s Ease of Online play, DLC and achievements system simply add more fuel to the fire.
If GT5, MGS4 and do not appeal to you then the PS3 becomes nothing more then a BRDVD player for most people. IMO Sony is stuck in the past by only offering new and exciting exclusives with outrageous 3+ year timelines and asking people to constantly wait for these games.
In the meantime other studios and platforms are receiving good quality titles on a regular basis. Developers will simply go where the money is and Microsoft is happy to oblige if they maintain and grow market share.
Profits are driven from software sales, you need to push a good stream of quality content if you want to get anywhere. If the PS3 had anywhere close to the library or functionality of the 360 I would own both. I just feel bad for those who purchased the console at launch and are only now getting a small trickle of games.
