Well, lets not forget that during Bill Clinton’s time in office, there was a Republican majority in Congress, and the Congress basically controls the budget. But, don’t get me wrong, I think the Republicans have strayed way too far from the original base (blame the neocons - liberals in disguise! /transformers theme song). But the Democrats shouldn’t be considered the low spenders - after all, part of being a Democrat is being a fiscal liberal. Real Republicans (see Ron Paul) are true fiscal conservatives. When we see the Bushes raising the debt and think “Wow, the republicans are the big spenders, not the Democrats”, we have to remember that today’s typical “Republican” is really just a liberal pretending to be a “Neoconservative” (a.k.a former Trotskyite).
