Wow, the replies to this story really make me sad

Wow, the replies to this story really make me sad.

Half of you didn’t even read the story, and the other half don’t understand a simple argument:

A. There’s no oil shortage - let’s just make that clear - big oil and speculators are driving the price up.

B. Even if there was an oil shortage, why would we open up offshore drilling if there was ANY risk to the environment when we would DOUBLE our oil production by using the leased lands already available.

C. Ok, say that the millions and millions of acreage of leased land won’t produce ANY oil profitably (although this is untrue) - then what good would offshore drilling do when Bush’s people have already said it will take nearly a decade to produce any additional oil offshore?

D. Why would we give BIG OIL a BLANK CHECK when we could much more easily invest and produce alternative energy?

Fine by me if all of you don’t want your kids to be able to swim in the ocean or breath clean air, keep driving your gas guzzling SUV’s around and thinking drilling offshore, or in wildlife refuge’s is a good idea.
