you it seems may have not been around at the beginning when this band was the shit. yeah they are distant and seem pompous these days, but then bono is acting to change some pretty entrenched and disagreeable things in the world and of late has stepped into even more ambitious and sparkly shoes. at the start, these guys were angry and raw and spoke about things people weren’t saying much about at the time, and they rocked the classic format in cool new ways. all of that is the bedrock on which this evangelical U2 has been built. i like the earlier stuff myself, but i respect them enduringly as a thanks for the parts I feed on.
