It’s implioed that the only reason Apple did this was to get people to buy music from a now dead artist off iTunes. Apple features artists all the time for various reasons. Yes, sometimes even because it might lead to same sales, but why not take it at face value instead of assigning some sinister purpose to it? Lastly why is the DRM there? Because the music companies won’t let Apple sell it without it while they DO allow other companies to do so.
DRM is defenseless. I can’t think of a single reason to use it other than because without it, Apple would lose most of their iTunes catalog. I use iTunes to find music, but have on many occasions then gone to Amazon and bought it there because I don’t like DRM either. Unfortunately, Amazon’s seach for music doesn’t work as well as iTunes IMO.
